It's 1:40a.m. and I am wide awake. This is no bueno because I have to be at work in 3 1/2 hours. Boo!
So, I thought I'd write my post about yesterday's hike.
Yesterday was supposed to be one of my C25K days.
That definitely did not happen. Not for lack of trying, but for lack of clear paths.
I wanted to do a trail run.
You know, running in the woods like a wild child.
I picked Lair O'The Bear Park.
It's a beautiful park that I've been to one other time, during the fall a few years ago.
Silly me.
Just because the snow has melted here, in Denver, does not mean it's melted in Morrison, CO, closer to the mountains. In fact, you have to drive a little through the foothills to get to this park but the elevation gain doesn't seem too bad.
The drive up there was beautiful.
It was a really clear day yesterday, so you could really see the mountains.
Plus, I was driving toward them.
So, I get there and begin the 5 minute warm-up walk when I run walk into this scene...
And it goes on...
Crap.
More like ice, slush, and mud.
I'm not going to run in this stuff and potentially injure myself.
Nooooo, thank you.
I then decided to just make a hike/walk out of it and thought I could just run tomorrow (now today).
I got some amazing pictures!
Fall time is beautiful here but winter is just amazeballs.
I mean, you've got snow patches on the creek.
Because it is turning into Spring time, it smelled great also.
It wasn't cold at all. It was about 68 in Aurora/Denver and about 62 at this park (cooler in the foothills/mountains). I know, I know 62 and 68 doesn't seem very warm, but trust me, it is.
68 is just hot and 62 is perfect. Perfect running weather for sure!
There's no humidity here so that's what makes the weather warmer than the south at this temp.
Here are a few more pictures from my hike.
Some I edited, but most I did not.

Beautiful, right? These are only a few of the 50+ I took.
Since I'd made a hike out of it, I really wished I'd brought my DSLR with me to get photographs, but these were all taken with my phone, a Samsung Galaxy SIII.
Oh, and of course I had to see how cold the water was.
Good grief. The reason "ice cold" was given its name!
It was a great day, and beautiful, even if I didn't get my run in.
Today is now C25K and cardio only day.
Have a beautiful day!

These are beautiful! at least you got some great pics out of your bum run. good luck with today.
