{Let's get back into it}

I've taken way too long off from working out.
I see it in my face when I take pictures.
My face is puffy again.
My number weight is fluctuating from 147-149lbs.
I had gotten down to 142lbs back in May.

What happened?
I know exactly what happened.
When I go through a break-up I just want to completely curl up into myself.
It's crazy, I know.
I know I should do the opposite but I don't.

After the beak-up, I stopped working out.
I was still running but not going to the gym for strength training.
And, let's be honest here... I wasn't running often.
Maybe once a week but usually I ran the hardest on my 5k race days.

Anyway, after yesterday and attempting to take several photo's but not liking any of them because I just didn't like any of them, I decided it's time to get back into it.
Today was my first day back to the gym.

I did this workout:

As well as a 30 minute elliptical session at 10.
According to the elliptical machine, set for a 34 year old female weighing 150lbs, I burned 200 calories and went a little over 2 miles.
I should really invest in a heart rate monitor.
I liked this particular workout too because I was able to complete all of it by myself in the group fitness room at my gym.

Anyway, it was a good start.
I decided I'll do only these full-body workouts for the next 3 weeks before switching to another, different full-body workout.
My goal is to be fit for my 5k race in Louisiana on November 16.
I'm tired of my family back home asking me if I've gained weight every time I see them on those vacations.

As of today, my weight this morning was 147.8lbs.

{WTF is wrong with people}

Not that long ago a friend, rather someone I thought was a friend, said something pretty rude and disgusting  to me. I know, hope, he said it in jest but no matter what, it was said and is not acceptable under any circumstance. I was so upset I actually cried; not in front of him or anyone else at work but in my car. Seriously, I was that upset.  When he came over to my desk to apologize (pretty much immediately after I left his work area and went back to mine), I could not talk to him. I told him so and said he needed to go away. After a little bit I called him over to my work area (less people around) and accepted his apology. I don't even know if I want to type it - I hate telling others it just bothers me so much.  Plus, not many people outside of my work environment understand the type of work environment we are in. Just know it upset me. A lot. I'll never look at him the same though.

Anyway, so I start with that because I have been so dang sensitive lately. It's driving me insane. Part of me wonders if I've always been accepting of what people say to me in jest and now that I don't work directly with them it's beginning to bother me or if it's always bothered me and I just it go (providing it wasn't terrible like the above paragraph).

I've allowed people to talk to me a certain way and it's no longer kosher with me.
How do you go back though?
How do you make what was once thought to be acceptable to unacceptable?
Am I really just being sensitive?

Here's an example I don't mind sharing.
I posted this on Facebook...

I'll get to the opportunity squandered after my little vent.
Anyway, here are the responses so far to my Facebook post...

Now, I am usually the last person who gets upset by someone picking on me. I usually get in on it because it usually makes them stop since it's not as fun if I join in. One thing that has always annoyed me though is one can never have a serious conversation without someone doing what Michael did. Ugh. It just bothers me. I hope he feels better now in some way.

WHY do people think it's okay to say some of the things they say?
WHY would you say something like that?!
(Not so much Michael since his was tame compared to the other guy.)
Don't be disrespectful.
Don't be unnecessarily rude.
You may think you are kidding around but is it really necessary?
I expect better from my friends.
Otherwise, you're not a friend but someone I will let go from my life and do so happily.

I am ready to move on completely from where I'm at now.
I have short-timer's disease.
I know once I get my bills paid off from going to school, I'm pretty sure I'm out.
It's time to move on.
I'm positive I will look for a job in the field of my major.
I feel like a need a change though no matter what.

 Another quick topic.

I saw this in my Instagram feed today.
It really hits home because I let my shyness stop me.
Really, I got incredibly tongue-tied.
It was embarrassing and all the way to my car I repeated what an idiot I am. haha

So, I have a tiny crush on a guy who works in my building.
I forget if I mention him or not.
So, I think he's not married but I'm not completely certain because he doesn't wear a wedding ring but that doesn't mean anything.

I have no idea if he's interested in me or not.
Part of me feels like if he's interested then he'll make an effort.
I also think maybe he's shy like me!
Who knows.

I definitely want to know though! haha
I always think of things to say if I see him in passing at work but then I never see him in passing!
While leaving work, I saw him walking to work (we were in the parking lot).
Every single thing I'd ever planned on saying went straight out the door.
He smiled a little and said, "Hey."
I think I mumbled, "Bye."
I'm not quite sure.

I'm definitely not going to go up to him at work and be like, "Hey, I like you."
Not-uh, no way, no how.
It's work.
Gotta keep it professional too.

Another reason I've been sensitive lately too is I've been thinking about my past relationships.
Then I saw this on Pinterest:

This one really hit home also.
I think that's another night of blogging though.

{New Workouts}

I'm not sure why but I have most definitely not been interested in going to my gym.
I am still running about 2-3 times a week but that's been it since June.
I'm not sure exactly what happened but I just do not want to go.
Possibly from taking 4 classes last term?
I'm not sure but it's not cool.

To counter that, I decided to try out some workouts I can do at home.
Yesterday, I gave this workout a whirl.

Lunge with rotation (right foot back, twist left) - 10/3
Reverse wood chop 10/3
Single leg dead lift 10/3
Side plank    45sec/3

It wasn't bad at all.
I also decided to see how these moves were from the Prevention website.

The Wall Bridge

Windshield Wipers

Toe Reaches

Wall Scissors

 Knee Press

Yesterday I only did basically one of each of those moves just to see how they felt.
Today, I am pretty good and sore. Of course, that's primarily from the other stuff I did yesterday.
I also went on a 45 minute walk with the dogs.

Today, I decided to combine the 2 exercises. Instead of doing 3 sets though, I did 2 sets of 10 reps.
It definitely felt good!
Later this evening I'll go for my run.

Speaking of run...
I decided to sign-up for the Spartyka Wounded Warrior 5k.
This means I'll be doing 2 races for the month of September but I'm okay with that as supporting the Wounded Warrior Program is such a good cause!
It's going to be in Colorado Springs, which is about an hour and a half from where I live in Denver, but it will totally be worth the drive!

If you're curious about the the Wounded Warrior Project, check out their webpage.  I think they are doing great things. This project helped my friends brother when he was injured recently.

{On hold}

I'm literally on hold on the phone.
Well, not technically "on hold" as that would insinuate my call has been answered.
Really, I've been "waiting for a representative" for almost an hour now.
Who would have such a long wait time?
The Veterans Affairs (aka VA).
Jeez Louise.

Going back to school is allowing multiple things to happen for me right now.
1.) I get to finish my Bachelor's degree
2.) Paying off medical bills
3.) Paying off regular bills
4.) Allowing me to potentially go into my career field of choice

I've talked about it before, but being in the Air Force for 6 years is allowing all of this.
The military gives us veterans (and active duty/reserve) money to attend school.
While active duty you get Tuition Assistance (TA).
As a Vet you use of the GI Bill which pays for your tuition and gives you money for monthly housing allowance (MHA). The military {loves} acronyms, BTW.
There, of course, is a limit monetarily and time-wise.

Luckily, I am able to survive on my own without the use of  of the MHA.
Since I've had a lot of medical bills lately, I'm able to use that money to pay those bills and use my own money to pay for rent. Or, I suppose, you could say it's the other way... MHA pays part of my rent and I pay the rest as well as my medical bills.  MHA is only 1/2 of what I'd get if I were physically going to school instead of taking just online courses. Once I begin my Master's program, however, I'll be taking one class at the school and the remainder online.

Anyway, I say all this to say I am extremely grateful for these benefits.
The military may not have been my cup of tea exactly (I joined after working for a financial company for 8 years), but it was worth it. I'll never regret joining the military.

Is it unjust the military gets these benefits?
I don't think so.
We willing give our life away to the military to protect our everyday rights from terrorist, foreign and domestic.
That may sound corny but I'm proud of what I did and what I continue to do currently to support the military and our country.
I'm proud of my dad, who still serves.
I'm proud of the people I get to work with on a day-to-day basis who are the Air Force, Army, Marines, Navy, and Coast Guard.
