{WOD & Past Week Recap Part 1}

First things first...

Today's Workout of the Day was BodyPump at 24 Hour Fitness.
It was a great class, I felt like I was dying at the time, but it was good.

I also feel like I got in a point with Karma.
There was this guy towards the front and you could tell he may have been a little mentally challenged.
Poor guy had a 10lb weight on one side and a 5lb weight on the other side of the bar.
He also didn't quite get any of the moves.

After 30 minutes of watching this guy from the back of the room, and seeing the looks others were giving him, I couldn't help myself and had to help him. There was one 5lb weight left near me, so I grabbed it and brought it over to him. It was a little loud so I just pointed to the other 5lb weight and to the one in my hand. I helped him change the 10lb weight to the 5lb weight.

~~~~~~~~~~
Onto this past week with the family.
Sunday we didn't do much because I had to work that night.
We did manage to go to the park down the street from my place before I had to be at work.
It was definitely good times and so much fun watching my niece and nephew play.
They took to rolling down the hill!
Monday we made it to Denver's Nature and Science Museum and City Park.
This place was more for my nephew but my niece enjoyed it also.
We saw the NASA exhibit, many animals, and the Dinosaur bones exhibit.
Afterwards, we made it to City Park, which is right behind the museum.
This park is amazing and so much fun!
At the gem exhibit (right photo above), my nephew said, "That's where Martian's live."
The view of downtown Denver and City Park from the Museum.
As my nephew and I were swinging, I asked him if he had fun. He said he did. I asked him what his favorite part was. He said, "The dinosaur's." I asked if that was all. He said, "No, the toy you bought me also!"
Whew! This post is getting a bit long-winded, so I think I'll end it now and finish up tomorrow.
{My life is back to normal now}
Welp. I'm all by my single, lonesome again.
My family wasn't supposed to leave until tomorrow.
The weather decided to go bipolar on us again and it snowed like 5 inches last night and was still snowing this morning, so my parents decided to leave then instead of tomorrow.
They drove here, so getting home by 1159p.m. was imperative since my dad has to be back at SGM (Sergeant Major School) Monday morning.
Weather isn't an excuse for the military.
My mom called and said at one point it took them an hour to go 3 miles.
Insane.
So, I'm back.
I'll put up a post tomorrow on our excursions.
I had a great time with them!
My niece and nephew are hilarious and I miss them already.
{Taking a vacation}
These two awesome people are visiting me this week, along with my parents.
That's my niece (9) and nephew (4).
More than likely, I'll take a week off from blogging while they are here.
I'm not even sure I could tell you how much I love these two and am SO excited they're here.
I've got lots of stuff planned for their visit.
They got in last night but because I wasn't counting on that, I didn't take today off also and I have to work nights. Boo! I think they're okay with that because they drove 9 hours to get here so they'll have all day today to rest up.
Anyway, so no posting for me while they are here.
I'd rather enjoy their awesomeness. ;)
{No sleep post}
It's 1:40a.m. and I am wide awake. This is no bueno because I have to be at work in 3 1/2 hours. Boo!
So, I thought I'd write my post about yesterday's hike.
Yesterday was supposed to be one of my C25K days.
That definitely did not happen. Not for lack of trying, but for lack of clear paths.
I wanted to do a trail run.
You know, running in the woods like a wild child.
I picked Lair O'The Bear Park.
It's a beautiful park that I've been to one other time, during the fall a few years ago.
Silly me.
Just because the snow has melted here, in Denver, does not mean it's melted in Morrison, CO, closer to the mountains. In fact, you have to drive a little through the foothills to get to this park but the elevation gain doesn't seem too bad.
The drive up there was beautiful.
It was a really clear day yesterday, so you could really see the mountains.
Plus, I was driving toward them.
So, I get there and begin the 5 minute warm-up walk when I run walk into this scene...
And it goes on...
Crap.
More like ice, slush, and mud.
I'm not going to run in this stuff and potentially injure myself.
Nooooo, thank you.
I then decided to just make a hike/walk out of it and thought I could just run tomorrow (now today).
I got some amazing pictures!
Fall time is beautiful here but winter is just amazeballs.
I mean, you've got snow patches on the creek.
Because it is turning into Spring time, it smelled great also.
It wasn't cold at all. It was about 68 in Aurora/Denver and about 62 at this park (cooler in the foothills/mountains). I know, I know 62 and 68 doesn't seem very warm, but trust me, it is.
68 is just hot and 62 is perfect. Perfect running weather for sure!
There's no humidity here so that's what makes the weather warmer than the south at this temp.
Here are a few more pictures from my hike.
Some I edited, but most I did not.
Going back down
Beautiful, right? These are only a few of the 50+ I took.
Since I'd made a hike out of it, I really wished I'd brought my DSLR with me to get photographs, but these were all taken with my phone, a Samsung Galaxy SIII.
Oh, and of course I had to see how cold the water was.
Good grief. The reason "ice cold" was given its name!
It was a great day, and beautiful, even if I didn't get my run in.
Today is now C25K and cardio only day.
Have a beautiful day!
{Weigh-In Wednesday}
button
149.0lbs
5'2"
So. Yesterday, I posted this picture after I got my new scale in the mail:
A .8 loss from yesterday? Sure, I'll absolutely take it. I need to get on this eating clean train. I've been working my way toward it. People keep telling me it's my muscles that weigh more and that's why I'm not seeing a change on the scale. You know, because I've been working out more and all that.
The truth of the matter is, I feel better. I feel like I look better. My clothes fit better.
So, with that said I'm no longer going to do weekly weigh-ins.
They depress me.
They make me feel less motivated.
I love the way I feel after my workouts and when I know I've created a healthy meal.
I've been doing good with putting the food I eat in my "Lose It" app. I eat between 1400 and 1600 calories.
With working out, I know I've worked off the majority of my calories.
I am OK with this.
My weigh-ins will now be monthly.
I won this great new scale and the day I receive it, is the day I finally realize I'm a prisoner to it and I don't want that.
I'm breaking free of my invisible chains, people!!
For my workout today, I'm doing a condensed 30 minute body pump class followed by a 30 minute core class. It's gonna be terribly awful and amazingly wonderful all at the same time.
