I have to say, I feel GREAT (can't help but imagining the Frosted Flakes Tiger here) after today's race.
I shouldn't. It was damn cold and is still damn cold out there. There were snowflakes as I was getting my race bib!! Anyway, so I was nice and bundled up though. Enough so that I'd be warm enough, yet wouldn't burn up later in the race.

I had two goals with today's race: One, to not stop running AT ALL and, Two, to beat my last run time of 41:33. I am very happy to say I met both of those goals!! My run time was not much faster than last month's, but, it was better. Baby steps, right?
So, I finished this time in 40:28! :) I am a happy camper that I got that time in colder weather and what felt like a really slow pace. My pace last time though was 13 something and this time, it was 12 something. I'll have to look at Map My Run to see exactly what it is.
I am going to do the Couch to 5K program though beginning tomorrow. My next race is March 30 and I'm hoping to have more of an improvement by then. Plus, I feel like if I follow some type of program, instead of just running into it (literally), that will help as well.
OH OH OH!!! The best part about today's race?! I won a free months membership to a crossfit gym!!!!!! I'm not even sure I can begin to tell you how stoked I am about this considering I was looking into it but the price got me down off that high horse. How did I win? After the race, I spent a few minutes going to each booth to gather my free things (yay for free stuff!) and a guy at the crossfit booth stopped me and talked me into throwing one of the medicine balls into a tire. There were 4 tires and, of course, the furthest one is the one I had to get the ball into in order to win the free membership. You also get 2 throws. The first throw landed the ball into the "save $69 on a month membership" tire. The 2nd throw, the ball bounced off the $69 off tire and landed in the FREE Membership tire!! The month membership normally costs $169, but not for this girl!
Woot Woot!

Here are my stat's for today's race, overall:
Division (F 30-39): 82/111
Overall: 393/504
Gender: 233/329
Age: 33
Oh, and by the way, it was too dang cold to go and take pictures of Washington Park after my race. After sweating and then not running anymore, I was freezing my ass off! So, here are the only photo's I managed.

WAY TO GO on hitting both your goals!! even more awesome is that crossfit gym membership. we would love to join but you're right that price is expensive compared to just getting out and running.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Meredith! It's insane how expensive CrossFit is! I'm really excited though for my one month! :)
DeleteWahoo for meeting both of your goals! That's exciting! Crossfit memberships are crazy expensive, it's awesome that you got one for free! :)
