{Resolve 5k/10k Denver}

Last night, the night before the race, I couldn't sleep.  I took a benadryl because my sinuses were bothering me. That meant I was passed out by 9 P.M. I thought that'd be great because I knew I'd get a good nights rest. That wasn't to happen though. I woke-up at midnight and then couldn't go back to sleep. o_O It wasn't until after 4 A.M. this morning that I finally fell back asleep.

So, I woke-up at 8. I made egg/turkey bacon muffins for breakfast and made myself my Amino Energy Shake.

Seriously, I love this stuff. It gives me enough energy without making me feel like my heart's going to explode out of my chest.

Anyway, I left my place at 9:10 A.M. and got there with 10 minutes to spare. Yay me! haha

I had to pee by the time I got there after drinking my energy shake but almost didn't. Boy am I glad I finally did with only 4 minutes before the race began! I sounded like a horse! I do know from my military time that running while having to pee is one of the most horrible things ever.

The first mile and a half of the run felt great. So many people stopped to walk before we even reached half a mile. To not walk, to not even want  to walk made me feel so good about myself. I've only ran 2 1/2 miles total non-stop and that was on the treadmill. Outside, it was a mile and a half that I ran non-stop.

At close to two miles in I felt like I'd wanted to stop but thankfully saw the 2 mile marker. That gave me enough high to want to keep going.

Close to 3 miles in I walked for about 45 seconds to a minute. From then on, it was more of the shuffle walk/run that I used to complete the remainder of the race.

My official time was 41.30.

I'm okay with that time. It gives me a goal to work towards for the remainder of my races.

Don't forget, it was only about 3 weeks prior to this race that I started running. Here's our route...

It was a beautiful run! After I finished, got some water and a croissant, I walked around the South end of the park to get some pictures for you, to see the views I had...
Ready to run!

Temp at the beginning
37 Degrees might seem awfully cold, but with the -2 to 15 degree weather we'd been having, this was actually very nice to run in. It was sunny and only slightly chilly.

We started to the left of the yellow pavilion building.
Downtown Denver and the Rocky Mountains are in the background.

Geese on Ice ;)

A better view with Downtown Denver in the background.

One path but we ran on another path to the right.
This photo is going East, we ran West at this point.

Beautiful.

A statue at City Park.

Temp at the end
This temperature was 35 minutes after I finished the race and was on my way back to my car. Toward the end of the race, however, I'd had my sleeves pushed back and was quite toasty.

I'm extremely happy with myself for finishing this race and only walking the one time.

My stupid ankle hurt after mile 2 but there's not really much I can do about that. I can try running with it wrapped next time. I doubt it'll do much good though.

My next race is the Valentine's Day 5k on Feb 10.
